The Pickerington North Panthers scored three times in a six-minute span to down the Central Crossing Comets 3-0 on Tuesday evening.
Junior Sydney Rogers was involved in all three scoring sequences, helping her team capture its first win in its last five matches.
Pick North started strong, with junior midfielder Grace Logan registering the first shot on target for the visitors in the seventh minute.
In the 23rd minute, Logan was at it again, finding teammate Emily Morris with a pass that unlocked the Central Crossing defense. Morris set her sights on goal and unleashed a shot, but the Comets goalkeeper made the save.
Freshman Olivia Neill enjoyed a strong performance on both sides of the ball and provided the Panthers with several opportunities from set pieces. She served in an outswinging ball that found sophomore Brynna Wade lurking in the penalty area, but Wade’s shot went just wide.
The Panthers enjoyed several chances before halftime but couldn’t find the breakthrough they needed.
Eleven minutes after the halftime break, Rogers found the back of the net, hitting a cross from the near side first-time on the volley and into the back of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
That would begin the scoring surge for the Panthers.
Rogers collected her second point in as many minutes, finding Morris for the second goal of the contest.
The junior then finished off the scoring surge in the 57th minute, collecting her brace and giving the visitors a 3-0 lead.
Seniors Abby Smathers, Karli Johnson, and Sophia Racette had quality opportunities late in the contest but couldn’t convert.
The Panthers held on from there as the defense saw little challenge to its lead, preserving the 3-0 victory.
