Relive the Panthers dramatic victory!
The Pickerington North Panthers outlasted the Grove City Greyhounds on Thursday evening, winning a dramatic penalty kick shootout 5–4 to secure their spot in the OHSAA Regional Semifinals.
Senior forward and Ohio University commit Olivia McCuen put the Panthers ahead in the 78th minute, but Grove City responded just 20 seconds later to equalize and force two overtime periods and, eventually, the decisive shootout.
Down 3–1 in penalties with their season on the line, junior goalkeeper Reagan Green came up clutch, making a pair of crucial saves to bring North level at 4–4. Green delivered yet another stop moments later, setting the stage for senior defender Avery Blackstone, who calmly buried the winning kick to seal the victory.
With the win, Pickerington North advances to face Beavercreek High School in the regional semifinals on Tuesday evening. The match will be held at Springfield High School, located roughly an hour west of Columbus.
