I took a field trip to Ada, Ohio to support the Ohio Northern Polar Bears.
The Ohio Northern Women’s Soccer Team invited me out to Ada, Ohio to participate in their Senior Day festivities. The Polar Bears welcomed the Muskingum Muskies to campus as the two teams competed in OAC conference play.
ADA, Ohio — Freshman Ayva Moore stole the spotlight on Senior Day, scoring both goals as Ohio Northern earned a 2–0 win over Muskingum on Saturday afternoon at Kerscher Stadium.
Moore opened the scoring in the 37th minute with an unassisted strike, then doubled the lead in the 56th minute to put the match out of reach. The freshman has been a steady spark for ONU’s attack all season, and she now leads the team with seven points on three goals and an assist.
Behind her, junior goalkeeper Morgan Moeller anchored the defense with another clean sheet — the 16th of her career, which moves her into ninth place all-time in program history.
The Polar Bears dominated every phase of play, outshooting the Muskies 32–2 and holding a 10–1 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Haley Cannon continued to make an impact as ONU’s setup engine, maintaining her team-high in assists this season.
Saturday’s win pushes Ohio Northern to 3-6-3 overall and 1-1-1 in OAC play, while Muskingum drops to 2-10-0 and 0-2-0 in the league. The Polar Bears have now won 34 of 38 all-time meetings with Muskingum, including 17 of 18 in Ada.
