PHOTOS: Columbus Crew vs. Vancouver Whitecaps
The Black & Gold capture its first victory since May 3rd

The Columbus Crew downed the Western Conference-leading Vancouver Whitecaps by a 2-1 scoreline on Saturday evening.
It took the Crew just two minutes to find the scoresheet as newcomer Ibrahim Aliyu hammered home a cross from Lassi Lappalainen from the wing to set the tone in favor of the hosts early.
The Crew added another goal 20 minutes later with a shot off the boot of Diego Rossi.
Vancouver attempted to mount a comeback, notching just one goal, but ultimately fell short by a 2-1 scoreline.
News and Notes
Saturday’s win marked 42 days between Crew victories.
According to Crew historian Steve Sirk, Goalkeeper Evan Bush became the oldest player in Crew history to ever start a game at 39 years and 100 days old. He broke the record of former player and coach Robert Warzycha, who held the previous record of 39 years and 18 days when he set the previous mark in September 2002. He still holds the record for the oldest field player.
