Panthers Flip the Script: Second-Half Surge Sends Pick North to District Final
The Pickerington North Panthers girls basketball team used a dominant 20-6 second-half run to storm back and defeat Thomas Worthington 40-35 on Wednesday night, advancing in the OHSAA Girls Basketball Tournament.
Junior Elina Stefanitsis led the charge with 15 points, shooting an efficient 6-of-12 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. In the closing moments, Stefanitsis teamed up with freshman Myah Bolden to steady the Panthers and seal the comeback victory.
Fellow freshman Zuri Huguley added 12 points while making her presence felt on the glass and in the paint, providing a strong interior spark when Pick North needed it most.
Brooklyn Reynolds delivered in a pressure moment off the bench, knocking down two crucial free throws late, and Tatum Woodbury contributed with relentless effort on both ends of the floor to help lift the Panthers to victory.
With the win, Pickerington North now turns its focus to a district championship showdown against Dublin Coffman. The matchup will serve as a rematch of the January 13 contest, when the Shamrocks edged the Panthers 53-49 on Refugee Road.
Saturday’s district final tips off February 28 at 2:30 PM. You can grab your tickets here.
