Ohio Dominican Men's Soccer concludes non-conference play against Lee
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican men’s soccer team fell 4-0 to No. 21 Lee University on Saturday afternoon at Panther Stadium despite a determined effort across two physical halves of play.
The Panthers (0-2-1) struggled to build offensive rhythm against a disciplined Flames side, who outshot ODU 22-7, including a 10-2 advantage in shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Joseph Deitering kept the Black and Gold within reach for much of the match, recording six saves.
Lee controlled much of the possession and set-piece opportunities, earning eight corner kicks compared to two for ODU. The contest featured a physical edge as well, with the Flames whistled for 10 fouls and shown two yellow cards, while the Panthers committed seven fouls and received one caution.
The visitors struck first in the 18th minute as Daniel Garvilla finished a setup from Nicolas Napoli. Napoli then played a direct role in Lee’s quick second-half surge, scoring in the 50th minute before assisting Jesse Thompson just two minutes later. The Flames sealed the result in the 74th minute with a right-footed finish from Farid Chouyouti.
