Mason Marchment shines in first outings with Columbus
Forward Mason Marchment has wasted little time making his presence felt in Columbus.
Since arriving via trade on December 20, the 30-year-old has scored three goals in his first two games with the Blue Jackets, injecting much-needed energy into a CBJ lineup that was searching for a spark. Through his first three appearances, Marchment has quickly emerged as a difference-maker.
Columbus acquired Marchment from the Seattle Kraken in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.
His impact was on full display in Friday night’s 3–1 road victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Marchment scored twice in the opening period to give the Blue Jackets early control. He opened the scoring just 4:07 into the game, beating Kings goaltender Anton Forsberg with a wrist shot to the blocker side. With 23.5 seconds remaining in the period, Marchment struck again, redirecting Boone Jenner’s shot, which took a double deflection off his shoulder and into the net to make it 2–0.
Columbus split its quick Western Conference road swing, falling in Anaheim before rebounding with the win in Los Angeles. The Blue Jackets now return home to Nationwide Arena for a Sunday matchup against the New York Islanders. Puck drop is set for Sunday, December 28, at 5 p.m.
