Logistics problems lead to postponement of Jim Tressel bobblehead giveaway for Columbus Aviators
In what is expected to be a strong attendance night at Historic Crew Stadium, the Columbus Aviators welcome the Houston Gamblers to town for the second leg of their home-and-home matchup. Fans traveling to the game were not only hoping to get a glimpse of their hometown Aviators, but take home a limited edition bobblehead on former Ohio State Football Head Coach and current Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel.
They will get to see their hometown Aviators, they’ll get to see Jim Tressel, but they won’t be able to take home their bobblehead, yet.
Columbus announced Thursday that 5,000 Jim Tressel bobbleheads are currently held in customs and will not arrive in time for Friday’s contest.
The UFL announced that it will issue redemption vouchers for the first 5,000 fans who enter the stadium, those vouchers can be redeemed at a later date.
Season-ticket holders will also have one bobblehead reserved per each account held. Additional details, including redemption timing and pickup locations, will be provided at a later date.
The Columbus Crew announced they encountered a similar problem on April 25th as the club was scheduled to get fans a garden gnome but that was postponed due to “circumstances outside the club’s control.”
The Aviators and Gamblers kickoff at 8 PM and will be broadcast on FOX.
