Jacy Sheldon Traded to Playoff-Contending Team After Breakout Sophomore Season
The former Ohio State Buckeye is on the move and looking to clinch a playoff berth.
It’s been a busy sophomore campaign for former Ohio State guard and Dublin native Jacy Sheldon. After wrapping up her rookie season with the Dallas Wings in 2024, Sheldon was traded to the Connecticut Sun, joining a franchise in the midst of a rebuild.
Sheldon made an immediate impact in Connecticut. Her scoring average jumped from 5.4 points per game in her rookie year to 7.5 PPG through 28 games in 2025. She also improved her efficiency significantly, boosting her shooting percentage from 38.6% in 2024 to an impressive 47.0% this season.
Despite Sheldon’s progress, the Sun have struggled. With a 5-23 record, they sit at the bottom of the WNBA standings.
Now, Sheldon is on the move again—this time to a team hovering just outside the playoff picture. She has been dealt to the Washington Mystics, a team that is just below the playoff line and trailing the Golden State Valkyries and Los Angeles Sparks.
Returning to Connecticut is former Huskies standout Aaliyah Edwards. Both the Sun and Mystics swapped first round draft picks in 2026 as part of the deal.
