Eagles Look to Complete Season Sweep of Nighthawks in Home Finale
The 2026 Major Arena Soccer League Women’s season is nearing its conclusion, and the Columbus Eagles will close out the home portion of their schedule Saturday night against the Youngstown Nighthawks at Resolute Athletic Complex.
It’s been a challenging campaign for Columbus. A mix of key absences and the integration of several new players has tested the squad’s consistency and chemistry. Still, veteran leaders Ashley Gogolin and Alivia Payne, née Milesky, have provided stability and drive throughout the season.
Despite a 2–5 record, the Eagles have remained competitive every time they take the field. Their intensity and resilience were on full display in the teams’ last meeting on January 3 in Cortland, Ohio, when Columbus delivered a dominant 17–3 victory.
Payne led the way with five goals, Samantha Buck recorded a hat trick, and Avery Bowden, Angela Boyce, and Megan Hersey each netted braces. Aleah Treiterer, Loren Gormley, and Gaby Escamilla also added goals in a comprehensive attacking performance. Goalkeeper Liv Alford earned the win, anchoring a strong defensive effort.
Saturday marks the final meeting between the sides this season. Columbus will look to complete the season sweep and snap a two-game skid, while Youngstown aims to build momentum and extend its winning streak to two games.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Resolute’s East Field as the Eagles look to send their home supporters off on a high note.
