Derek Goodman leads Panthers in victory against Findlay

The Ohio Dominican Men’s Basketball team split the season series against the University of Findlay on Saturday afternoon with a 73-60 victory, avenging a loss to the Oilers last month. The win keeps the Panthers in fourth position in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) standings and keeps post season aspirations very much alive.
ODU sophomore Derek Goodman led his team in scoring with 22 points. Elijah Hinton collected his fifth double double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Panther senior only missed two shots the entire contest.
Findlay jumped out to an 8–2 advantage in the early going, but a three-pointer by Terrance Broughton sparked a 9–3 Panthers run that tied the game at 11. The Oilers briefly rebuilt their lead with back-to-back threes before Ohio Dominican responded with a 14–0 surge to go ahead 25–17 midway through the first half. Findlay answered with a 9–0 run, but the Panthers regained control behind a Goodman three and took a 36–33 advantage into halftime.
After the break, Goodman and Hinton helped extend the lead to 44–33 early in the second half. Findlay cut it to two with three straight three-pointers, but Ohio Dominican took over from there, outscoring the Oilers 27–10 over a long stretch to build a 19-point lead. Findlay closed the game on an 8–2 run, but the Panthers held on for the 73–60 win.
